Black 2 & White 2 Video!

Pokemon Black 2 & White 2

Hey, guys! Little update from the Hive here (not major, but still awesome).

Now, as some of you maybe know, Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 are fast approaching. The other day, the official Pokemon site released a video "trailer" of sorts to the game, and gave it a very anime-ish twist. Instead of the usual trailers given for new Pokemon games that usually include gameplay videos, screenshots, artwork, and new areas/aspects of the game, this one looked like it could be an anime based on the new games!

Don't be mistaken, this isn't to start a rumor or anything of an anime, this is only a trailer for the new games themselves. It features the male protagonist and the game's new rival, along with some familiar faces. These include the reappearance of N, and more scenes with the Shadow Triad, Cheren and Bianca, Team Plasma, and even Elesa! You may not recognize her immediately, for I think she has dyed her hair black! o3o" Not common in a Pokemon game, but she is a model, so... meh. I liked it better before, personally.

Anyway, not too much to say other than that. Well, when you watch it, listen to the music playing just before and during the "chase scene" of sorts. This video was awesome! To see it, click the link below.

So other than that, have a great day, guys! I'll catch ya' all next time, ok?

Pokemon of the Week - Mantine

Mantine
Hallo, fellow members of the Hive! Yes, I'm back! I've been away for a while, but now I'm back to kick some butt in Wild Ca-- I mean... The Pokemon Hive! I figured that I may be able to manage posting at least a PotW post each week, along with other major things. I can't deny it, I've been lazy! ><" Anyway, I thought I'd do an entry for Mantine. Not the most powerful thing in the world, but I like him either way. And he steals Octillery's babbies! D8 (Yogscast fans will understand the "babbies" thing) Anyway, for my reasoning for this choice, click here. That's right, click right here!

Serebii.net - Mantine Pokedex Entry

Overview:
Now, today's lesson is set upon a very large manta ray. And as very happy-looking one at that! Mantine has Special Defenses to match even those of the physically-oriented Skarmory! Now as high as that may be, Mantine has a few fatal flaws. It's typing of Water/Flying leaves it vulnerable to Stealth Rock and come common weaknesses, as well as a crippling weakness to Electric. Without Electric and a resistance to Psychic, Mantine doesn't make too good of a wall for a team, but he has his upsides as well. Mantine's Special bulk allows him to easily switch into a Water-Type attack and be healed. And due to his Flying dual-type, he is an excellent switch-in to Grass or Water users like Gorebyss, and can even be safely witched into the oft-powerful Fighting-Type opponent! With immunity to non-rocky traps (the Spikes moves), Mantine can play a pivotal role on your team, if you play him right. Just remember, outside of Rest, he has no healing options, and low HP doesn't welcome that...

Base Stats:
HP - 65
Atk - 40
Def - 70
SpAtk - 80
SpDef - 140
Spd - 70

Movesets:

Mantine @ Leftovers

Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP, 4 Def, 252 SpDef
Nature: Calm
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Scald
- Hidden Power Flying/Toxic

I found this set over on the Smogon site (loving their new BW analyses!), and I really liked the idea! Rest, as Mantine's only healing move, allows you to toss Status Ailments to the side as if they were nothing, and shrug off any non-Electric Special attack to come your way! Sleep Talk with Rest is an age-old strategy, and works well to keep Mantine alive during his nap. In the 5th Generation, Mantine gets a shiny new toy in the form of Scald, which is a godsend to this... ahem... physically-impaired manta ray. Scald gets nice STAB for decent power, and has a very attractive Burn rate. Any Physical Pokemon trying to take advantage of our friend will have to pray to Mew (I don't accept Arceus in that regard...) that they don't get Burned! If they do, Mantine may as well be facing a Special Luvdisc... Now, the last slot is your choice, but I prefer option #1 due to the lack of variety otherwise. Hidden Power Flying gives Mantine a fun tool against enemy Grass and Fighting Types, as well as select others. It will also do more damage to said Grass-Types than Ice Beam would, because of STAB. Toxic is still a great option nonetheless, and will tear through defensive walls and sponges that would normally tank Mantine to no end! So consider your options and your other teammates as per the usual, and make your decision. Honestly, a very fun set to use if you like Mantine! :3

I was thinking of doing another set here, but the thing is... Mantine's movepool is ginormous (did I really just say that?), but he lacks the offensive powers to utilize many of the moves in there. Signal Beam, Ice Beam, some great defensive moves that I would only recommend in a non-Sleep-Talk set, and many more. Just look through his movepool, and if your team has a specific problem with a Pokemon or two, see what Mantine can do to help! I mean, look at that happy/chubby face! He loves you! <3

Oh, and if you're using him in Pokemon Colosseum like in the beginning of my LP, then just go with your most powerful moves, since he's a bit lacking in that game. Blizzard works wonders with his typing as well!

I hope you guys have enjoyed my mini-comeback, and I look forward to hearing from you all! Have a nice day~! Gute nacht, y'all! :3

A Bit of a Call to Action

Hey, guys! I don't know who still reads this (and I know many of you that do read probably are new finders of my blog), but I tip my hat to you!

I'm not sure when, but whenever I get the chance, I do want to continue my Pokemon analyses here, among other major Pokemon updates.

I don't have a whole lot to say other than that, so... sorry! I hope you all come back to check from time to time, and hopefully I don't... forget? Haha~ Anyway, have a good day!

Guten tag! :3

What Am I Even Doing...?

Hey, guys! Or... whoever may stumble upon this, at this point...

I'm kinda here just to say I'm kinda ashamed at myself... I mean, I told myself I would keep this blog up and running, and I did what I could to provide you guys with awesome content (at least, that's what I thought it was), but all I did was drop the project at one point.

Lately I've been so friggin' busy half the time, I rarely even remember this thing exists... And it makes me sad, honestly. My laptop's on the fritz again (yes... AGAIN!), I'm in college now and half a full week with classes, and so much more has been going on! I'm looking into getting myself a job, but idk what I wanna do. I was thinking of working at a local GameStop, but at the same time....

I also have to say, I wanna work for myself. I want to control my own future, be the decider of my own fate, the maker of my own design. I'll work for that, especially if it means I'll be able to support the ones I love. I'm currently looking up ways to make some money as we speak, but I'm not sure what to do. I keep seeing "Make A Blog!" everywhere, but... at this point, it's almost depressing me.

*sigh* Well, I need to buck up and get things straight! I'll still try and post here, but it won't be like before. Maybe if my LP's actually start picking up (once my laptop's back, of course) and I hopefully get some viewers, then... by all means, the Pokemon Hive will be making a comeback, and I promise that to you all.

Whoever reads this, well... Let me know how you're doing~ Tell me what's on your mind after this 2-month gap! ........... Well that didn't help my mood to realize...~ =3=

Anyway, I gotta bounce, so I'll catch you all late, 'kay~? Buh-bye, Hivians!

Pokemon of the Week - Charizard

Charizard

As my second Pokemon of the Week, I chose my number 1 favorite Pokemon ever! Charizard! I've always liked this guy, and I just wish he had more playability in the OU metagame. Anyway, sorry for the PotW delay, I just wanted Typhlosion not to be short-handed~ |3 Enjoy!

Overview:
Charizard boasts a great Special Attack, as well as a very nice Speed that can beat those strange 97, 98, and 99 Base Speed Pokemon nowadays! He is somewhat frail in the defense department, but even his low Attack can be usable on a certain set (one of my faves, talked about below). The only drawback I find to Charizard is his 4x weakness to Rock-Type attacks. This means he's a victim to the metagame's fanboy/girl love of Stealth Rock. I personally distaste using things that are so OVERLY used that it gets annoying. Oh, and as a side note: I didn't realize until I did this Pokemon of the Week, but Charizard and Typhlosion have the exact same Base Stats.. o3o"

Base Stats:
HP - 78
Attack - 84
Defense - 78
Sp.Attack - 109
Sp.Defense - 85
Speed - 100

 Movesets:
Charizard @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 244 Sp.Atk, 252 Spd, 12 HP
Nature: Timid
- Flamethrower
- Solar Beam/Focus Blast
- Sunny Day
- Substitute.
This set is pretty easy to understand, and not too hard to pull off. Just put up a
Substitute, use Sunny Day, then Substitute until you reach 1/4 Max HP. Here,
Blaze and the Petaya Berry will activate, and along with Sunny Day, this will make
Charizard into a huge sweeper. Not much will resist a Sunny Blaze STABed
Flamethrower at 319 Base Power. Solar Beam takes care of Waters and most
anything that resists the Flamethrower. You could also take on Tyranitar with
Focus Blast, as he would otherwise destroy your sweep completely here.
Just keep it up, and it may not last long, but you will take down a few with this
dragon's power. And that Petaya Berry just pumps it all up even more at 1/4 HP.
Oh yeah, and if you're wondering about the strange EV setup, this gives Charizard
enough HP to get exactly to 1/4 HP.

Charizard @ Salac Berry
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 140 HP, 116 Atk, 52 Def, 200 Spd
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
- Belly Drum
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch
- Substitute
Ooo~ This is one of my favorite sets~ Anyway, you should come in when
you're not attacked (after losing a teammate) or into a Grass attack, and make
sure whatever you switch into will run away from Charizard. When they switch,
Substitute! Then Belly Drum as they attack your little Rhydon doll there. After
this, you have a Blazing, Max Attack, 1.5x Speed fiery lizard that will take
down almost anything. With these boosts, even a Dragon will cower to a
beefed up Fire Punch! Keep it going, and whatever you do, do NOT get
hit or your lizard will slam down hard! Other than that, you won't have
to worry about much, since Fire Punch and Earthquake offer great
type coverage. Happy battling~ >:3

Well, there you have it! Another Pokemon of the Week for you to enjoy~!
I hope everyone here likes them, and continue to read on~ I'll write as long as
you all read! Well, Gute nacht! And Battle On! X3

I'm back!

Sorry, guys! I know I've been saying I'll post every other day at least for a while now, and I've failed so soon... It's just I have many deadlines to meet, like my school Senior Project. The darn thing is a graduation requirement, and a big portion of it is due next week.

Anyway, I've been spending each day this week drawing multiple art pieces for a book I have to make for my project. My subject I chose was Art, so my Community Service portion was to make a book with my own story/art, and donate it to the children's ward at the Whittier Presbyterian Hospital. It's been a hassle, but at least it's helping with my art block...

So, I have drawn about... 5 pieces so far, I think? I'm gonna get as many as I can done today, and maybe a couple more tomorrow if I still need it. Tomorrow I'm printing, binding, and donating it, so hopefully this will all finally be done with... Well, I'm sure you guys don't want to hear me rant about my schoolwork, especially after being gone for a while. ^^;; So, what else to say~?

Pokemon starts here!!

So, on a lighter, Pika-related note: I have info on the Global Link! Apparently, the site has told its members (me included) that the Pokemon GL will be up and running by the 13th, but sadly, they took down that info soon after.

At the time, I'm not sure if this means it still will be released then, or if they may have changed it due to problems. Let's all hope for the best and root for the company supplying us with these fun (yet sometimes weird) creatures!

So, we also have to remember Japan's current situation. The massive 9.0-magnitude earthquake along with a dual tsunami took out much of the coast, and almost all of the Tohoku region. If you guys have time, please make a donation or something to help Japan. They need it!

Ongoing Events! Don't miss 'em!

Hallo again, everyone! Don't know how many active readers I have so far, but I figure I'll get more over time! Haha... Anyway, I decided to let you all in on the info now~

Not sure if you guys know, but there are a few live Pokemon Events going on now! (thus explaining my little Celebi up there~) Anyway, obviously the internet does not discriminate countries, and I don't know if any non-US peoples are reading my stuff, so I'll try and be as thorough as possible, ok?

United States
Liberty Ticket - This ticket allows you to get to Liberty Garden Island in the new Black and White games, where you can catch the Legendary Victini, the Victory Pokemon! This event will last until April 10th (less than a week!), so get it over WiFi if you haven't already!

Europe
Liberty Ticket - Again, this ticket brings you to a small island with a lighthouse, where you can catch the perfect stat Legendary Victini! Get it over WiFi before April 22nd if you haven't yet, ok?

Other
(I believe this refers to Australia and other countries that got the games)
Liberty Ticket - And finally, again due to its later release than the US copy of Black and White, countries outside of the US, Japan, and Europe have a chance to get the Liberty Ticket and the Legendary Pokemon Victini! Get this one before April 28th, and you'll be good to go! WiFi again, by the way~

So there you have it, guys! I hope this was useful to you all, and that none of you miss the Events! :3 I will be updating this blog with more Pokemon information, and possibly special updates for new Events, ok? Have fun, and gute nacht! ("Good night!" in German)

First Global Link Event

Eeveelutions
Hallo again, readers! :3

As my next post I decided to be a bit more... informative with it. As some of you may already know of, the new Pokemon Black & White games can connect online to an area called the Dream World, where we can send one of our Pokemon over WiFi, then play with it here on our computers!

Anyway, the Global Link (which is the host site of the Dream World) has not been activated in the US yet, and has been pushed back due to the recent disasters in Japan. Well, the Pokemon GL should be out soon enough, hopefully this month, and Nintendo has released their first GL-related Event for us! If you go onto the Pokemon Trainer's Club website (link below) and login, you get to play a game! It's a simple Brick-Breaker-esque game where you collect dropped orbs. Whichever orbs you collect the most of will determine the Eeveelution you get at the end (ie. more Water Orbs will give Vaporeon, more Psychic Orbs will give Espeon)! At the end, it tells you which Eeveelution you received, and you have the choice to keep that one, or play again for a new one. Caution! You only get to keep one that you choose, so choose wisely! Once you do this, you can later retrieve your new Pokemon, who will be waiting for you in the Dream World!

So, the thing about these special Pokemon is that they have their special Dream World abilities, which are otherwise unobtainable! Some of these are a bit trivial, while others help the Pokemon immensely! So, if you would like to go and play the game, use the link below and login to the Pokemon Trainer's Club. Have fun!

PS) I chose Umbreon~ ;3 May not have had the best DW Ability, but he's still my favorite!

Pokemon of the Week - Typhlosion

Typhlosion

As my very first Pokemon of the Week, I chose Typhlosion! It's one of my faves from Johto, but I chose it for a more... special occasion~ :3 Anyway, here's to starting my new blog! Cheers, all!

Overview:
Typhlosion has a great Special Attack stat and very nice Speed. Pair this up with a nice offensive movepool, and you got a good attacker in your party! With nice moves to implement like Eruption, Overheat, Focus Blast, and even Solarbeam, Typhlosion makes a well-rounded Fire-type Pokemon. Some things to watch out for are Stealth Rock, and Rock- and Dragon-Types. Typhlosion also makes a good Sunny Day user.

Base Stats:
HP - 78
Attack - 84
Defense - 78
Sp.Attack - 109
Sp.Defense - 85
Speed - 100

 Movesets:
Typhlosion @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Sp.Atk, 252 Spd, 6 HP
Nature: Timid
- Eruption
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power Ice
- Overheat
Here's a pretty... standard Typhlosion set. Using his nice Special Attack and Speed to
his advantage, this set can hit pretty hard if used right. Eruption is there as a powerful
STAB move, and Typhlosion can move fast enough to hit before a lot of Pokemon can
damage him and reduce its power, especially with the Choice Band Speed boost. Focus
Blast is there primarily for Rock-Types that give Typhlosion so much trouble. Hidden
Power Ice is for Dragons that resist his other attacks. Overheat is like a backup STAB
move to use later in the battle, or if Typhlosion was already damaged after an Eruption.
Either way, the power here is incredible. The EV spread makes the most of his better
stats, and really helps with the moveset in general. Enjoy!

Typhlosion @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Sp.Atk, 36 Sp.Def, 220 Spd
Nature: Timid
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power Rock
- Solarbeam
- Sunny Day
Here's another nice Special Attacking set. This one can hit much harder at times, but is
a little harder to set up (yet well worth it if you can). Once it does set up fully, this can
wipe teams clear off the map! The Life Orb will boost your attacking prowess, and as
long as you hit hard enough, it will eventually activate Blaze. Fire Blast is your standard
STAB move, and with Sunny Day and Blaze activated, very few Pokemon will be able
to survive the assault. Hidden Power Rock is for the Fire-Types that can completely wall
this set without it. And finally, Solarbeam allows for Typhlosion to reach new heights.
With this, he can injure those bulky Water-Types like Milotic and Tentacruel, plow
through Rock-Types like Regirock, and completely obliterate other threats like
Swampert and Omastar. As long as you can set this up, teams will be cowering before
this fiery weasel!

Well, there you have it! My very first Pokemon of the Week entry! I hope you guys like
it and find it useful~! My later PotW entries might have more detail as I think things up,
and if I ever improve some of my past entries, I'll post an update for you all! As for today,
Gute nacht~ :3

Introductions~

Hallo, guys~ :3

As some of you may or may not know, this is actually my very first blog! To be honest, I'm a bit nervous about it, but I'm determined! I won't leave this as another half-finished project, and will be updating and changing the blog as much as I can! Wish me luck!

To start off, I'm going to try and post every 1-2 days at the least, and no less than that (unless I have obvious reason not to). My goal here is to voice out my opinion on Pokemon, give out information, movesets, and news, and just anything else my devoted readers would like to hear! So if there's anything you guys would like me to talk about, leave some comments and messages, and if I see something I like or that a lot of people want, I'll try and make a post of it! Oh, and most days I will post one article, unless I have a lot to talk about and feel like writing maybe two.

So you may see some patterns in the way I talk, or what I talk about, and I hope you guys all like it! Remember: your opinions matter! Give me some feedback! Haha, it will help this beginning blogger out a lot.

You can hear more about me through the About Me link on the right, and I will add more to the blog as I go. Hope you all look forward to reading from me!

See you all, later! Ja ne!
