Black 2 & White 2 Video!

Pokemon Black 2 & White 2

Hey, guys! Little update from the Hive here (not major, but still awesome).

Now, as some of you maybe know, Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 are fast approaching. The other day, the official Pokemon site released a video "trailer" of sorts to the game, and gave it a very anime-ish twist. Instead of the usual trailers given for new Pokemon games that usually include gameplay videos, screenshots, artwork, and new areas/aspects of the game, this one looked like it could be an anime based on the new games!

Don't be mistaken, this isn't to start a rumor or anything of an anime, this is only a trailer for the new games themselves. It features the male protagonist and the game's new rival, along with some familiar faces. These include the reappearance of N, and more scenes with the Shadow Triad, Cheren and Bianca, Team Plasma, and even Elesa! You may not recognize her immediately, for I think she has dyed her hair black! o3o" Not common in a Pokemon game, but she is a model, so... meh. I liked it better before, personally.

Anyway, not too much to say other than that. Well, when you watch it, listen to the music playing just before and during the "chase scene" of sorts. This video was awesome! To see it, click the link below.

So other than that, have a great day, guys! I'll catch ya' all next time, ok?

A Bit of a Call to Action

Hey, guys! I don't know who still reads this (and I know many of you that do read probably are new finders of my blog), but I tip my hat to you!

I'm not sure when, but whenever I get the chance, I do want to continue my Pokemon analyses here, among other major Pokemon updates.

I don't have a whole lot to say other than that, so... sorry! I hope you all come back to check from time to time, and hopefully I don't... forget? Haha~ Anyway, have a good day!

Guten tag! :3

Pokemon of the Week - Suicune

Suicune
http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2009/348/8/1/Suicune_v_2_Normal_Coloration_by_Xous54.png
Hey guys! Welcome to today's Pokemon of the Week~!I wanted to do a 2nd Gen Pokemon so I thought for a bit and thought "Hmm... Suicune might be fun!" And so... well... here I am! Hehe... Anyway, I hope you all like today's post, and comment on what you'd like me to talk about here!

Serebii.net - Suicune Pokedex Entry

Overview:
Suicune (for a non-Uber) is a very good Pokemon in all aspects of the phrase. It has a defensive spread of 100/115/115 which is simply incredible! It is somewhat slow at 85 speed, but its other statistics make up for its faults. It's pure Water typing gives it great defensive capabilities, and is very easy to set up. The 4th Gen metagame may have given it some stiff competition in some points, but those who underestimate this lupine creature will be drowned in its watery torrent. Sadly, it is very predictable in its main set, but used right it can be the star of the show! ...And harbinger of doom to the opponent's.

Base Stats:
HP - 100
Atk - 75
Def - 115
SpAtk - 90
SpDef - 115
Spd - 85

Movesets:

Suicune @ Leftovers

Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpAtk, 4 SpDef, 252 Spd
Nature: Timid
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Calm Mind
- Hidden Power [Electric]

A defensive Pokemon with offensive set? Huuuuuh...? Now due to its defenses, Suicune has a very easy time setting up, even if the opponent has some sort of type advantage. Using this, Calm Mind raises your Special Attack and Special Defense, further boosting this defensive wall's capabilities! If you can set up on a Special Attacker, then nothing will be able to easily stop your setup without risk. After a couple Calm Minds, your attacks will be able to KO a vast majority of the metagame! The EVs and Nature help you accomplish this, and Leftovers complements it perfectly! It helps keep you alive while they try and stop your setup, and helps assure your survival once you begin your sweep~! The combination of Surf, Ice Beam, and HP [Electric] gives Suicune here almost perfect coverage from all but a couple Pokemon. If you can get him out right, you'll have a fun time with this. Oh yeah, if you want more immediate power, a Life Orb is another option, though I prefer Leftovers.

Suicune @ Life Orb

Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpAtk, 4 SpDef, 252 Spd
Nature: Modest

- Tailwind
- Hydro Pump/Brine
- Icy Wind/Ice Beam
- Signal Beam

Now, this set isn't quite as competitively-based as the last one, but can be used in a variety of play. I got the idea from a set used by the maker of a Pokemon Battle Revolution guide on GameFAQs, but tweaked it around and added the EVs and Nature and stuff. Tailwind helps if you have a slow team, and helps Suicune's less-than-spectacular Speed become better. Hydro Pump is for maximum damage to the enemy, or you can use Brine for its effect. Icy Wind will slow down your opponent further, which is great for when you need to slow a fast opponent. Ice Beam of course is a solid replacement. Finally, Signal Beam can easily help against common Ubers or OU Pokemon weak to it. Given the right setup and support, Suicune can probably OHKO a Mewtwo or others with it! Life Orb and the various spreads help for maximum power and Speed with Tailwind.

I hope you guys enjoyed my Suicune post, and use it to your own advantage! If you have any comments or replies, let me know via that little comment button!

Anyway, until next time, have a good day~ Ja ne, und guten tag! :3

Let's Play Pokemon White

Hey, guys! :3 I know it's been a few days since my last update, and I really don't like that (been really busy with other things... Specifically what I'm about to talk about). But anyway, I decided to bring in something with "extra content" for you all today! I hope you like this, so enjoy~

http://lurei.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/pokemon-white-boxart1.png
Starting today, I am officially a YouTube LPer! For those of you who don't know what an LPer is, it is a person who, through videos (that usually have live or post commentary of some sort), create episodes of themselves playing through an entire game! These usually are very informative about the game, as well as often funny~ If you're interested, I highly recommend you check out the YouTube Channels of NintendoCapriSun, chuggaaconroy, and lucahjin!

As of today, I have began to upload my own LP. My first Project is my informational and comedic run-through of Pokemon White Version. I will be showing much of the game, and I hope that you guys come to watch, and enjoy the work I do! :3

To reach my first video or my YouTube Channel, you can use the links below to find them! Please comment, rate, and subscribe if you like my work! I will be working daily to provide episodes along with better quality each time! Have a good day~~

Anime Expo

Hey, all~! Just another news update today~ And yes! ZOMG! Three updates in 2 days! Meh, got a problem?

Anyway, I went to Anime Expo 2011 yesterday (July 3rd), and spent the whole day running around with my best friend! In actuality, it was awesome! I had only gone to AX before once, in 2009. When I went there, I went into the Expo Hall, walked around, and that's all. This year, my friend showed me how much that AX really has!

Before the Expo Hall opened (10:00, we got there at 8:00-8:30), we went into the video hall and watched Kanon, then after we explored the Hall for a few hours, we ate then went to another video hall and I got to see Kekkaishi! I was confused about what the story was about for the first couple episoodes, but she was able to guide me through it fine enough~ ^^;;

Anyway, there was so much Pokemon merchandise there! There was a bunch of fan art in the Artist Alley (in which I bought 3 pieces, 2 that were Pokemon and 1 of Pikmin), and a LOT of plushies! I even saw some chibi versions of new Pokemon~ :3 One place that I got excited about was a booth selling things that you cannot find anymore, including the original (Japanese) Pokemon Red and Green Versions! A few more were there, but it was awesome!

As for cosplayers, there were Pokemon ones everywhere. Of course there a few as Ash, a couple as Misty (Woot~), but sadly I only saw maybe one Brock... A lot of people were dressed as Pikachu, I saw Dawn and even Ruby (Brendan), and some Piplup! One group I liked was a Pikachu, Piplup, and even a Quilava~! That was cool and nicely made. Of course there was a Bianca and I even saw Cheren, with quite a few Blacks and Whites (the main characters from Pokemon BW), and to complete the "collection," at least a couple Ns!! X3 Strangely, there was even an Arcanine o3o" And finally, another than I liked was a few people as Umbreon~! That was a good one~

I know this is mostly rambling, but I thought I'd let people know of all the true-blue Pokemon fans that attend the AX every year! Have fun~! :3

Pokemon of the Week - Dragonite

Dragonite

Pokemon of the Week is here! On the 4th of July, nonetheless! Now there isn't really a reason that I chose Dragonite other than the fact that he's a favorite of mine, and he's underrated when compared to Salamence. I don't mean Salamence is bad, he's just really overused sometimes. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy the Pokemon of the Week today, and have fun~! :3

Serebii.net - Dragonite Pokedex Entry

Overview:
Dragonite... Doesn't he look too kind to be a big, powerful Dragon? Well, why not both~? Dragonite boasts a very high Attack stat (one of the highest among non-Legends), and very nice stats all-around! While he may be horridly cast aside by the uber-popular Salamence, Dragonite makes of for the lower Speed and worse Ability. Dragonite has very nice bulk compared to Salamence, as well as a much more diverse and fun movepool. Is Speed really bothering you that much? Dragonite can learn ExtremeSpeed, a +2 Priority Attack~! :3 Try that on for size~

Base Stats:
HP - 91
Atk - 134
Def - 95
SpAtk - 100
SpDef - 100
Spd - 80

Movesets:

Dragonite @ Life Orb

Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 56 Atk, 252 SpAtk, 200 Spd
Nature: Mild
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Superpower
- Roost/ExtremeSpeed

Dragonite can actually run a mixed set very well! With his incredible Attack and respectable Special Attack, this chubby powerhouse can take down a lot of Pokemon. One of the highest ranking uses for this is as a very nice wallbreaker, as he can take down very common ones like Blissey and even Tyranitar~ Draco Meteor badly damages anything that isn't Steel or Blissey, OHKOing many of them! Flamethrower will have enough power to take down just about any Steel-Type thrown at you. Superpower can OHKO Blissey and Tyranitar, while lowering your Attack and Defense, so watch out for a surprise revenge kill! For the last slot, a bit of thought may be needed~ Roost can allow Dragonite to live much longer, so the residual damage of Stealth Rocks, Sandstorms, and your own Life Orb won't kill you, when combined with any attacks your opponent may get in. ExtremeSpeed gives you another attack, and a +2 Priority one, at that! While not as useful as Roost is sometimes, it allows you to bypass Dragonites only big flaw: his lower-than-others Speed! It also allows Dragonite to be an effective lead and revenge killer~ Keep on your toes, and you can devastate your enemies with this set~!

Dragonite @ Life Orb

Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk, 4 Def, 252 Spd
Nature: Adamant
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- ExtremeSpeed
- Earthquake

Dragonite's typing gives it many resistances and an immunity, and his natural bulk gives him some stall time. Using this, Dragonite is a viable user of Dragon Dance. With Adamant and max Attack, this Pokemon reaches phenomenal Attack power, and enough to outspeed any nonboosted Pokemon with base 125 Speed, after just one Dragon Dance! For a Dragonite, that's incredible~ I chose Dragon Claw over Outrage as it is more reliable, and only a few Pokemon (such as Suicune) will need to be worried about without Outrage. Besides, a move lock and confusion can lay waste to your hard-earned DDs! Next, ExtremeSpeed lets you outspeed the Pokemon that you can't normally, and would give you problems (Flygon, anyone?). Earthquake nicely fits into the last slot and kills non-floating Steels that wall your other attacks. With these moves and all of your different boosts, the only Pokemon to completely wall you are Skarmory and Bronzong. Play this right and watch out for your counters, and you will annihilate all in your dragon's path~!

Well that's the end of that chapter~ Hmm? What? Too cliche? o3o" Whatever, anyway! I hope everyone enjoyed this, as I know I did! Well, except a couple formatting problems that really annoyed me... So, I guess that's it for today~ Stay tuned next time for another nice update!

Guten tag! Ja ne! Good bye~! :3

Game Updates

http://www.serebii.net/Hallo, inhabitants of the Hive! Not much to update today, so I'll give you some smaller information, ok?

The Pokemon Dream World is gaining another update. It doesn't have new Pokemon, but gives a new minigame to control Victini in. If you send in Reshiram or Zekrom into the Dream World, you should gain access to their respective C-Gear Skins, mentioned all before. Do note, I am not entirely sure if this is the one coming to the US Dream World, or if it is Japan-only, again. Good luck, and have fun!

For my second update, I would like to tell about Super Pokemon Scramble, the recently announced new game, and continuation of Pokemon Rumble. This game is still going strong with information, and new pictures have been released and given to Serebii (I wish I had connections like that). If you wish to go and look at the screenshots of pre-release, then check them out here, on the main page and pic page~! Have fun!

Well, that's not much, but that's all I have for the night. Be here tomorrow for another Pokemon of the Week! I'll try and make it a good one~!

Gute nacht! Ja ne! See you soon~ :'3

Pokedex 3D: How to Obtain New Pokemon

Pokedex 3D
Nintendo 3DS

Hey guys! Welcome to my latest post in the Pokemon Hive! The bugs bein' nice to ya'~? Anyway, I know a few people are confused about how to get new Pokemon in the free game Pokedex 3D for the 3DS. Well today, I will explain a number of thing. First, for those who barely received their 3DS or haven't downloaded the Pokedex 3D game yet, I will explain how to do so. Then I will go into the number of ways you can get brand new Pokemon! Here we go~

 Getting Pokedex 3D
When you start off, your 3DS will normally be missing a few things, such as even the Nintendo eShop (the 3DS equivalent of the Wii Shop Channel). In the package for the 3DS there will be a lot of documentation, and in there is a fold-out instruction sheet labeled something like "Set-Up Guide." Follow the steps in there to start up your handheld, and connect it to the internet if you have WiFi (Note: An Internet Connection is necessary for most of the  things in this guide, btw...). After that, perform a System Update (just like the Wii, this can be found in the Settings), and you will get the Nintendo eShop on the 3DS's Main Menu.

Finally, go into the Nintendo eShop. Scroll along their list and you will easily find Pokedex 3D, which absolutely free to download! Follow the instructions there and congratz! You have Pokedex 3D~! When you start off, you will have a free 16 different Pokemon~

Obtaining New Pokemon
A photo of my AR-scanned Gigalith~ Awesome~!

Spotpass
First is the easiest and most efficient method, but possibly the only method. If you don't know anyone else (explained later) with the 3DS and game, you must rely on this method. Every day, rolling over at 12am midnight (though for some reason it happens around 10pm for me), you will see a dot next to the Pokedex 3D menu icon. This means you have received a new Pokemon's data! Enter the game and it will ask you if you want to download it, so choose "Yes." After that, exit the game or press the Home button on the 3DS, then re-enter the game. In the top right, it will say you have another new Pokemon, so tap it and select "Yes" like before. Finally, repeat that one more time for your 3rd and final Pokemon of the day~! And there you have it, 3 brand new additions to your game~

A couple notes here. You can only get 3 Pokemon total per day, no more. If you choose "No" to downloading it, it will ask again after 30 minutes. Also, these 3 Pokemon will always be ones that you don't already have, so don't worry~ Oh, and finally: you may have to go into Options and turn Spotpass on for this to work, but I think it asks you when you start up your game, as well.

Trade with Friends
Ok, it's Pokemon. Did you really not see this coming? As usual, you have the ability to "trade" Pokemon with your friends, and some Pokemon will actually require this to be obtained. If I am correct, each game has a unique "set" of Pokemon that cannot be gotten in your game (think of them as Version-Specifics). These must be traded with other to get yourself. I think these mostly include the Pokemon with different forms, like Frillish and Deerling.

Anyway, what you do is select the Pokemon in your Pokedex that you wish to trade over, then go to the Options on that page. Next, you'll want to select "Give" to send the data (you don't lose anything). Your friend will want to choose "Get" and will receive the Pokemon that you just sent~ Now you can do this back and forth for whatever Pokemon you each need!

Note: This must be done in local~! You cannot trade over WiFi~! (I noticed other guides weren't noting this...)

AR Stickers
This isn't necessarily a way to obtain new Pokemon, but a way to complete the game fully. Every time you get a Pokemon, you will see a little black and white square symbol on its page. This is their AR Marker. When you scan these with the AR Viewer (found in the Options again), you will register it in the Sticker Book (same place). If you have the Pokemon already when you scan a marker, you will see it pop out into reality! If you've played the AR Games on the 3DS by now, you'll know what I mean... Anyway, this will register the Marker as a full Sticker, and the Sticker Book will put the Pokemon's image over the Marker~ When the Pokemon pops out of the Marker you scanned, if you take a picture of it, it will register the Pokemon's Photo Sticker as well~ So each Pokemon has both a Pokemon Sticker and a Photo Sticker. Think of this as your Pokedex or collection, per say. So get on collecting! It won't be easy!

Oh, before I forget to mention! If there are Pokemon that you have scanned the AR Marker for but don't appear in your Dex already (they won't pop out of the Marker like others do), then those Pokemon have a higher chance of being one of your 3 new Pokemon in Spotpass! Use this to influence who you get! I got Volcarona, Krookodile, and Cubchoo in one day~

Well, that's all I have for this issue/post/whatever. I hope you guys enjoyed it and found it useful~ So stay tuned as usual, and see you next time!

Guten tag~ Ja ne~ :3

Pokemon of the Week - Luxray

Luxray

Yay! Another Pokemon of the Week post! I'm surprised I've been keeping them up so diligently, honestly... o3o" Anyway, I've always liked Luxray, ever since Diamond first was released and I had one on my main team! ^^" Anyway, I just thought it looked cool and the blue and black Electric-Type was pretty unique~ So anyway, before I ramble, I hope you like the issue today! :'3

 Serebii.net - Luxray Pokedex Entry

Overview:
Not much to say about Luxray besides the fact that he is very unique, and not only aesthetically! Luxray is different from many general Electric-Types such as Jolteon and Raikou, in that is has high Attack, lower Speed, decent bulk, and a nice movepool in offensives! With this and a lack of a strong STAB besides Spark, Luxray is generally seen as a wallbreaker rather than a sweeper like many other Electrics. Its quirks help deem it a spot in battle that others may not be able to effectively fill, so Luxray is a good Pokemon~

Base Stats:
HP - 80
Atk - 120
Def - 79
SpAtk - 95
SpDef - 79
Spd - 70

Movesets:
 Luxray @ Life Orb

Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 204 Atk, 156 SpAtk, 148 Spd
Nature: Naughty
- Thunderbolt
- Superpower
- Hidden Power Grass
- Crunch

This is an interesting set to say the least, especially given the low number of effective wallbreakers. This lets Luxray shine in its niche, with its diverse offensive movepool~ Thunderbolt is the general STAB that hits hard despite his better Attack stat, and can help take down opponents such as Slowbro and Tentacruel, along with all bulky Waters in general. Superpower annihilates Special walls like Blissey and the such, and can hit those Rock and Steel walls easily. Hidden Power Grass takes down Ground-Types, and Hidden Power mixed with Superpower can 2HKO Donphan and Rhyperior. If you take Hidden Power Water instead, you can beat Steelix with that combination, but lose a way to decimate Quagsire and even Swampert, depending on your tier. Finally, Crunch takes care of your general and somewhat common Uxie and Claydol, among a few others. Life Orb gives you the best boost possible, and the EVs spread out to maximize the Special Sweeping capabilities of your lustrous Luxray~

Luxray @ Rechargeable Battery

Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 64 HP, 188 Atk, 24 Def, 112 SpAtk, 24 SpDef, 96 Spd
Nature: Rash
- Thunder(bolt)
- Ice Fang
- Superpower
- Roar

Haha, I saw this set and it seemed alright, then I checked out the EV spread and thought that it was hilarious! I don't think I've ever seen such a spread out EV set, but it looked plausible, so I thought I'd post it. Thunderbolt is the main STAB here, and supplements the wallbreaking further with the other moves. Due note that the original set used Thunder instead, but Thunderbolt seemed more reliable. But with the low spread of EVs, Thunder's power is probably necessary... Anyway, Ice Fang helps by taking out many of the common Ground walls too. Superpower finishes the nice triad of moves that really helps in coverage! These three moves are actually pretty nicely workable. Lastly, Roar phazes anyone who gets too much set up in before it can be swept. Lastly, Rechargeable Battery helps in case you need to take out a Pokemon or two quicker, so go for it! this set should be amusing to use, overall~!

Ah, done~ Anyone enjoy this one actually? Like I've said before, I don't know how many dedicated readers I have here, besides one person in particular~ :'3 I always like new interested people, so let me know what you guys like or want! I respond to all comments I get, and always will~! Anyway, I hope you guys stay and be here to read on about new things. Have a nice day/night/whatever~

Ja ne~ Gute nacht~! See ya' later, all! :3

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team

Hey, guys~! Welcome to my first game recommendation/review! I hope you enjoy my review here, and hopefully feel enough to wanna try these games, if you haven't already~ I love this one especially~

Gameplay:
The gameplay in this game was ground-breaking! For once, we play as Pokemon in a battling setting that was more similar to the mainstream series. This alone made the game a worthy try in any fans' eyes. The controls are immensely easy to learn and get used to, as I can now traverse the dungeons and change directions without even thinking about it! If the game is too slow for you, you can go and simply hold B to speed it up big time! Plus, you can set throwing items like rocks and needle, as well as one of your attacks, to a button shortcut.

Other things such as linking moves for use in a single turn, or revamped items like the mega-healing Oran Berry, and hold items like X-Ray Specs or Friend Bow, this game is just fun overall~ Oh, and before I forget: you don't catch things in this game. You recruit them to your rescue team! To do this, you simply defeat the Pokemon, and given that you have their Friend Area (the place where your recruits "live" after you get them) and enough luck, they may ask to join you. You can bring up to 4 Pokemon with you at a time, depending on their size.
Oh, and one last thing, this is a 3rd Generation game, so that means there is no Physical/Special Split. And also, every single Pokemon before Diamond and Pearl are in it (though about 5 4th Gen Pokemon have references in the game, and one may even appear in-game, but not as a recruitable).

Plot:
The plot of this story is simple, but at times deep. It starts with you being given a personality test, where (depending on your answers), you are attributed to a certain given Pokemon. You have the possibility of being a Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, Cubone, Machop, Psyduck, Eevee, Meowth, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, or Skitty. Due note: only male characters can be Cyndaquil, Machop, or Meowth, while only female characters can be Chikorita, Eevee, or Skitty. Your gender does not affect gameplay, so if you are a girl and you want a Cyndaquil, selecting "Male" will not affect your game~ (They changed the gender-only aspect in the second games)

Anyway, back to the plot! After the test, you choose your Partner Pokemon (only Starter Pokemon from the mainstream games can be Partners, like Pikachu, Bulbasaur, or Treecko), then your game begins. You wake up to find that, in fact, you are a human that was turned into a Pokemon! Awesome! But... you don't know why... Your Partner finds you unconscious, and you explain to him what you are, though (s)he thinks you weird initially. Soon you find out about the natural disasters occurring in the Pokemon World, and go off to save someone. Now, I don't want to spoil the plot after that, but you meet many interesting Pokemon in your journeys as a young Rescue Team, and near the end, the plot gets a bit thicker, and very sad at points. It is a very emotional game, and I love the game for adding in the emotion that your other Pokemon games may lack!

The best part is, after the credits roll for the main game end, there is still about twice as much story for you to do afterwards! This game never ends~! I know others will highly enjoy this too~

Music:
Oh, the music~! The musical score in this game is phenominal! The peaceful sounds of each dungeon are calming, and help you keep your cool in heated dungeons. Other than this, the overworld and town themes just sound fun and nice to hear after you return from one of the larger dungeons like Western Cave or Buried Relic. Some favorites of mine are Mt. Thunder and the Frozen Forest, among a few late-game ones. Also to note, the battle and boss theme in this game is one of the best I've ever heard, from many games and series! It's totally worth it, and fits the fight well~!

-------

Not much more I can say about the game, but I would highly recommend it! Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team is for the Nintendo DS, while Red Rescue Team is for the GameBoy Advance. Both games only have minor differences, such as a few Pokemon that appear in only one. But never fear, it is possible to get the Red-only Pokemon games in Blue, without having to connect with someone that has Red! So pick whichever you prefer or have access to!

For those of you who want the 4th Generation Mystery Dungeon games, look into Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness, and Explorers of the Sky~ All equally great games that many will enjoy!

If you would like to buy or try out any of these games, you can find them for pretty good prices below here~ Have fun~ And see you soon~! :3

New Pokemon Game!

Super Pokemon Scramble!!

Hey, everyone! I got big news! Following the recent update of the new Pokemon game, Pokedex 3D, there is now confirmations of a second new Pokemon game, also for the 3DS! Released info leaked by 2ch and caught by Serebii again, so credit goes where credit is due.

This new game is named/dubbed Super Pokemon Scramble, and is the supposed sequel or follow-up to the popular title for WiiWare, Pokemon Rumble~!

For those of you who don't know, Pokemon Rumble is a kind of top-down view Pokemon game where you control one Pokemon at a time, and it gets up to 2 attacks to choose from~ You take these Pokemon through wild areas (sometimes battle arenas) and actually control the Pokemon's movement as you attack and defeat enemy Pokemon~! Overall there isn't a whole lot mor to explain, to keep it simple. But in short, I'd really recommend this game! :3

Anywho, Super Pokemon Scramble has the same mechanics as Pokemon Rumble, and shares many similarities. Besides the obvious difference from console to handheld, there are a few other changes. First of which, Super Pokemon Scramble also holds the ability to use and find the new 5th Generation Pokemon, just like any other. Also, the game orbits around its usual single player mode, but also offers you a 2-Player Co-Op Mode as well, so to speak~ This alone can add replayability and a lot more fun to the game! That, by the way, is local play. As Serebii states, there is currently no information about any WiFi modes, though as it is from Nintendo, it is highly possible that one will be implemented in~ ^^"

So as of now, there isn't much else to talk about this, but I will try and give you guys more information as I find it, ok? I hope you all stay tuned, and return to the sanctuary of the Hive!

Catch you all next time! (not a Pokemon pun) Guten tag~! Ja ne~! :3

Pokemon of the Week - Swampert

Swampert
Hallo, my resident Hive members! Welcome to another section of the Pokemon of the Week~! I decided to post on Tuesday again to give Umbreon a full week, but once I get to a not-so-favorite Pokemon, it will go back to Sundays and Mondays.. ^^" So, I hope you enjoy your trip today through our Hive! >:3

Overview:
NOTE: Swampert is not purple! That is a shiny one, which is what my awesome Swampoon was~! :3 Anywho~ Here is Swampert, another high favorite of mine! The typing is awesome, his HP and defensive stats make him an incredible tank with his typing, and with his offensive stats, he has nice power for a tank! Plus, he just looks so cool~ |3 In the last 3 generations, he hasn't changed a whole lot. From RSE to DPPt, he gained little, but what he did gain was phenomenal for his purpose. From DPPt to BW, he gained... uhm... Damp? Oh, there's Boiling Water, which is nice~ :'3 *trying* Anyway, this guy is still a great Pokemon to use, and can fill nicely into many teams! Have fun here~!

Base Stats:
Hp -  100
Atk - 110
Def - 90
Sp.Atk - 85
Sp.Def - 90
Spd - 60

Movesets:
Swampert @ Leftovers

Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 SpAtk
Nature: Relaxed
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Stealth Rock
- Boiling Water

This has been the standard set for Swampert for a while, with only a few changes per Generation~ Earthquake hits anything hard that doesn't resist it, of course~ That is EQ's top purpose on any Pokemon, isn't it? Ice Beam hit Flyers hard, makes poor Dragons cry, and works nicely in coordination with Earthquake. Stealth Rock is a great entry hazard, and Swampert is one of the best users of this move. Even in Gen 5, he maintains his role fairly well~ Boiling Water is a nice new toy for Swampert~ >:3 You can sacrifice slight power for a nice chance of Burn, which kills Physical Pokemon and makes Swampert a more effective bulky Water tank (Hehe... Water tank...~)! Anyway, You can also annoy and ruin sweepers that otherwise kill Swampert, such as Gyarados, Salamence, and even Latios, just with a Burn! ^^" The Leftovers help his bulkiness, and Relaxed gives him nice defenses without hurting your Special Attacks. You can also use Shed Shell if Chandelure or that new Goth Pokemon decide to trap Swampert. And trust me, with Chandelure being the strongest non-Legend Special Attacker, this Yokai will be on many teams! Finally, if playing in 4th Gen, just switch Boiling Water for Protect for scouting, or even Yawn, and you're good to go~ A fun set to play with, you have here~

Swampert @ Choice Band

Ability: Torrent
EVs: 172 HP, 252 Atk, 84 Spd
Nature: Adamant
- Waterfall/Aqua Tail
- Stone Edge
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

Surprise! A non-tank Swampert! Swampert has the power to run this set very well, but it needs some prediction lest this Mud Fish be clashed and destroyed. It's surprise potential is awesome though! Waterfall and Earthquake together give it incredible STAB power and coverage, dealing humongous damage to almost everything~ Aqua Tail can be used instead as it has the ability to 2HKO Skarmory with Special Defenses, and hit harder with everything, at a bit of a loss of Accuracy. If Skarmory isn't a problem to you, then Waterfall works just as well. Stone Edge gives you nice damage on the Gyarados that otherwise will wall you and your team if it sets up on Swampert, so that helps! Trust me, I use Gyara when I don't use Swamp! It's a powerhouse! o3o" Anyways~~ Finally, Ice Punch gives you better coverage, and does epic damage to Salamence, Flygon, Dragonite, and even Shaymin and Celebi (hit the last two on the switch, then switch away or you will die! o3o")! Choice Band, along with your Speed EVs, give Swampert the ability to outspeed 0 Speed Skarmory and a few others (though you can add more), and the HP adds to your bulkiness and protects you from a 3-turn kill from the overly used Heatran! Take that~ ;3 Finally, Attack EVs are given in order to maximize your surprise damage~ I hope you like this set!!

I hope you all enjoyed this one as well! I always enjoy writing about my favorite Pokemon, and I hope the ever-present metagame finds interest ion my posts! I know I'll never join the ranks of Smogon University or Serebii, but I try... So I hope you guys have fun, and look forward to more updates! I'll let you know when I get something good!

Guten tag and ja ne~ :3 Battle on, trainers of the Hive!

Pokemon Cafe - Live~!

Hey guys, not much of an update ^^;; Sorry for my lack of activity, and I take full responsibility for it this time! (not that I have a ton of active readers anyway, but still...)

Anyways, for those of you with the Japanese version of the Black and White games (and in retrospect, access to the Japanese Global Link), a new goodie is here for you~! The Pokemon Cafe is open and live for JGL users~!

For anyone who doesn't know yet, the cafe is somewhat of a new game/minigame in the Global Link and Dream World, and allows you to gain brand new items (such as the 3 original base Evolution Stones and Rare Candies), and a few new Pokemon! :3

These Pokemon are 4 in number~ First there is Poliwhirl! Now realize that Poliwhirl evolves into 2 Pokemon, one of which is now a highly overused Rain Dance team Pokemon, for its hidden ability: Drizzle!! Yup! Kyogre's very own ability is in Politoed!

Next is a Burmy (nice choice of multi-Evo's there). I'm not sure how useful his Dream-version evolutions are now, but who knows what they can do~?

Third we have Smeargle, with his Moody ability~ If I remember correctly, that raises a random stat and lowers another random stat per turn~ Not the best ability, but works better than Own Tempo, I'm sure ^^"

Finally there is... (you'll love this~) *drumroll* Eevee~! That means Female Eevees~! That means we can breed Dream Ability Eevees and get all the Eeveelutions~! Heh.... Kinda makes that Eeveelution event a bit pointless now, doesn't it? o3o"

Now the catch:
This event will only be here for a few months, wherever it gets released! At least, it seems so... I believe the Japanese one will be down around August of this year or so? So get there while you can~! :3

So I'll have to bid you adieu~ For now~ Until next time in the Pokemon Hive! >:3
Gute nacht! Ja ne! And I'll see you all later~! :3

PS) I'll be coming up with a bigger post soon, but I won't tell what it is just yet, ok? Talk to you later! :3

Pokemon of the Week - Mew

Mew

Hallo, my Pokemon Hive readers~ Welcome to another post of the Hive, and the 6th version of my Pokemon of the Week series! This one features the very first Pokemon that Nintendo had trademarked: Mew! Another of my favorite Pokemon, Mew is a Legendary that everyone tries to obtain, but few get the chance outside of recent anniversary events~ ^^" Anyway, enjoy~! :3

Overview:
Haha, I love to review Mew as a Pokemon! It's so versatile, and can be used as almost any role, since all of its stats are above average, and beat many others. You can use it as a sweeper, a wall, an annoyer, a phazer, and almost anything else your team can want! That, along with its innate ability to learn every single TM and HM without fail, makes it a very unpredictable Pokemon as well. I will be listing some key things to use Mew as, so I hope you guys enjoy the review of Pokemon #151, and the first PotW Legendary: Mew, the New Species Pokemon~!

Base Stats:
Hp -  100
Atk - 100
Def - 100
Sp.Atk - 100
Sp.Def - 100
Spd - 100

Movesets:
Mew @ Leftovers

Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP, 168 SpDef, 68 Spd
Nature: Calm
- Rock Polish
- Swords Dance/Nasty Plot
- Substitute
- Baton Pass

I like this set when I use Mew as a support role Pokemon~ It's fun if you get it done correctly~ Anyway, this Pokemon here is mostly used for Baton Passing effects and boosts to your other Pokemon, which Mew does very well with its versatility in moves, and durability to be reliable. Anyway, its Nature and EVs are set up so it can better tank what threatens it in the Uber metagame. Rock Polish is to help with the fact that the majority of the sweepers you will be Passing to are too slow to sweep against their counters or walls. Some Passed-to Pokemon don't need this, however. Swords Dance or Nasty Plot can be interchanged depending on what the Pass calls for. Are you passing to a physical Groudon or a special Kyogre? Substitute protects Mew from a few attacks that will try to stop it, along with Status Ailments, and allows for a possible free turn to Pass or get a last boost. Also, you can Baton Pass Substitutes to your receiving Pokemon, which can help the switch-in a lot! Finally, Baton Pass is the obvious attack choice, else this set would fail immensely! o3o" The Leftovers allow Mew to survive longer with Substitute, and heal some small damage each turn. have fun passing along~!

Mew @ Choice Scarf

Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP, 4 SpDef, 252 Spd
Nature: Jolly
- Transform
- Trick
- Explosion
- Light Screen/Reflect

I checked out the sets and this one seemed like another fun, gimmicky one! ^^" Basically Transform is used for unpredictability, and the fact that few people will have some counter to it. What you need to do is switch in on something that Mew can survive a turn or two against, and Trick it to give it the Choice Scarf. While they are stuck on a move, Transform into it and proceed to sweep, wall, or do whatever that wanted Pokemon can do to help you~! For the Light Screen and Reflect, choose one that would help Mew Transform, and the rest of your team most. Explosion is mostly there as a filler, and can be used to annihilate the enemy Pokemon, especially if you predict your Transformation to be a fail. Plus, it adds power and surprise, which is always gladly welcomed~ There's not too much more to say about this set, but if your team can't handle Pokemon that resist Trick (like Giratina Origin Forme), then you can always switch Trick for Hypnosis, and use Leftovers instead of Choice Scarf. This will add survivability, while still being able to cripple your target Pokemon~ Thing strategically, and work hard, and this set can help you win big, especially in late game! Have fun with this one too!

And there is my Pokemon of the Week post for Mew, the last Pokemon of the Kanto Dex, and first one to have its name trademarked by Nintendo! I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and liked the new Uber focus, and come to join next time! Until then~

Battle on! Guten tag, und ja ne! :3

Pokemon of the Week - Rhydon

Rhydon
Haha, I've wanted to do a post for this guy since I started, kinda. While he may not be one of my top favorite of all Pokemon, I still respect this guy. He's also one of a select few Unevolved Pokemon that I really like (others being Scyther and a couple more). But my real reason for this guy's inclusion to the Pokemon of the Week is... kinda special. As many of you may not know already, Rhydon is actually the very first Pokemon ever created! Not Bulbasaur, not Mew, not even Pikachu! It was all Rhydon~ That would also explain why the Gym Statues and the beast-type Pokemon from Red, Blue, and Yellow resemble Rhydon. It's a tribute~! :3

Overview:
Do note that my review here is on an unevolved Pokemon, so my sets and info are most going to revolve on the RSE games, to an extent (before Rhyperior existed).
Anyway, Rhydon is actually not the worst Pokemon, overall. While its typing leaves it heavily vulnerable to Grass and Water (both of which were all Special and would almost always destroy him), it gives him very useful STAB. This, along with his sky-high Attack and Defense, and an great HP stat, he can take almost anything physical and sweep if used right. Not only that, but Rhydon actually has a pretty nice movepool, boasting Megahorn, Earthquake, Focus Punch, and a lot more! If you can hit during a switch, it will be well worth it.

Base Stats:
Hp -  105
Atk - 130
Def - 120
Sp.Atk - 45
Sp.Def - 45
Spd - 40

Movesets:
Rhydon @ Choice Band

Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 Spd
Nature: Adamant
- Megahorn
- Hidden Power [Rock]
- Earthquake
- Double-Edge

This is actually not that bad of a build for a Rhydon in RSE. Megahorn hits Grass users, and is somewhat of a filler. Hidden Power [Rock] gives STAB, and hits many Pokemon powerfully (and offers a more reliable accuracy and power than Rock Slide or Rock Blast). Earthquake is another great move that works nicely in combo with Hidden Power [Rock]. Finally, Double-Edge hits Pokemon hard and with 100% accuracy, specifically Weezing. After this, your main worry is a Skarmory. Other than this, simply use hit-and-run tactics, and make sure you predict a switch well. Have fun!

Rhyperior @ Leftovers

Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 140 HP, 252 Atk, 32 Def, 84 Spd
Nature: Adamant
- Megahorn
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

Well, I thought I'd post up a more currently usable set, for those of you interested. Rhyperior here is sadly hurt by a lot of others in the competition, but can fare in OU, to an extent or UU. Stone Edge is your power attack, with STAB, which hits many Pokemon in both tiers very hard, especially with his monstrous Attack. Earthquake gets incredible coverage with it, and Megahorn makes it so almost nothing can switch in on you without being burned by a good prediction. Plus, Earthquake's STAB is another useful bonus. Rock Blast can be used over Stone Edge, especially in UU, where Substitute users can be very tricky. For the last slot, I chose Stealth Rock as it can be useful, and Rhyperior can kill almost all of the UU Rapid Spinners with ease. If you wish to use Rhyperior as a defensive wall instead, replace Stealth Rock with your own Substitute instead, and you're good to go! Anyway, besides the even more massive Attack, Defense, and HP, not a whole lot is changed from 3rd Gen, but Rhyperior still stands out as a nice threat if used well!

Well, there you have it! My own little tribute to Rhydon, the very first Pokemon~! I hope you all had fun reading, and got a bit of fun trivia from this post! Not much else to say here really, except to have fun, and keep playing~! Remember: You are not too old for Pokemon!! >8U Hehe... So I'll talk to you all later!

Battle on! Guten tag, und ja ne! :3

Update w/ Apologies

Big News!
Hey, guys! Sorry I'm late again, I got distracted with some "personal projects" of mine, so I haven't had much time to write. Anyway, I got some time (and memory) so now I can bring you some news! I know most of you probably either already know this, or don't even read the blog much to keep up with events, but this is a big one for some people!

Well, if you've been watching me or Serebii at all, and keeping up with Pokemon data, well, you may like what's happening soon! :3 For those of you who went onto the Pokemon Main Site and played the minigame for the Dream World Eeveelution, you're in luck now!

The event for the Eeveelutions has finally come to a halt, so the main site has announced that they will soon be adding in the Pokemon you unlocked into the Dream World! It is currently unknown as to how you finally get it in the PGL, whether by small minigame, or just straight to your Friend Board in your Dream Home, but either way, we will soon have them!! X3

*waiting for his Umbreon*

Anyway, please, DO NOTE THIS!! The Eeveelutions are not in the Dream World right now. Nintendo only announced that the event to get them has ended, so they will soon be placing them in the Dream World. Stay tuned here for announcements as well, as I will let you know when you will be able to pick up your respective Pokemon...

Well for now, guten tag! I hope to talk to you all more soon, with more big news! Battle on! And have fun~ Ja~! :3

Pokemon of the Week - Gyarados

Gyarados
Credit for image goes to Delthero (he's on deviantART).

So to start off this week's posts, we have the Atrocious Pokemon, Gyarados! Gyarados has always been another favorite of mine, ever since the first generation games, and has continued to be everyone's favorite Water-Type powerhouse since then. A huge leviathan coming from a single, small, harmless carp, you have #130 in the Kanto and National Dex, Gyarados!

Overview:
Gyarados is, as I said, an offensive powerhouse. This large sea serpent can take down almost any Pokemon that doesn't resist it. With an incredible Attack stat of 125, and overall well-off defenses, not only will this thing be taking down the enemy, but he'll be surviving them as well! As a Water/Flying dual type, he has resistances against some of the most common metagame move typings, and only has a few key flaws. Also due to his typing, any bulky or fast Pokemon with an Electric attack will be sending Gyarados a blow to be watched for, and the obsession with Stealth Rock nowadays doesn't really help him either. But despite these downsides, Gyarados still manages to be one of the most powerful Pokemon out there. If you use him, he will not disappoint! Just... not against a Starmie or Jolteon, please...

Base Stats:
Hp -  95
Atk - 125
Def - 79
Sp.Atk - 60
Sp.Def - 100
Spd - 81

Movesets:
Gyarados @ Life Orb

Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk, 4 Def, 252 Spd
Nature: Adamant
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

This is a favorite set of mine. With this EV spread and nature, along with Life Orb, Gyarados is already a strong hitter. Right? Well, after a Dragon Dance or two, not much will be able to take down this guy, let alone outspeed or survive him! Waterfall is the standard move here, as it's Gyarados's powerful STAB attack. It can hit anything not resistant very, very hard! Along with this, you have Stone Edge for the Flyers and Birds, along with other Gyarados that may try and counter you. Plus it offers nice coverage with Waterfall. To complete a good line of coverage with the other two attacks, we have the everpresent Earthquake! Besides coverage, it allows you to hit those resisting Steel-Types like Metagross and Empoleon. Some people it seems like to use Bounce in the final slot, as it is more powerful that even Waterfall, but you will need to be more lenient with the coverage overall. Just use what best fits the team you are making! And have fun~!

Gyarados @ Choice Band

Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 72 HP, 252 Atk, 184 Spd
Nature: Adamant
- Waterfall
- Payback
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

For this set (the only alternative that I kinda liked), Gyarados is played a bit differently from usual. It still has a boosting item, and Waterfall to maintain the prowess we all know and love. Payback is a nice surprise for enemies, as it can be used to counter what usually counters it like Celebi, or even Starmie and others. Stone Edge is the usual coverage aid with Waterfall, and kills anything airborne, almost. I chose Earthquake again over other options, as it seems more viable to me. Again it takes down Steels that would resist the other attacks. Your only problem will be Brellom that can wall this set otherwise (you can use Ice Fang for him) and... that's basically it, I think? Plus Ice Fang is a more accurate Flyer-killer, but still keeps a role.

Okay, guys! I hope you liked this next Pokemon of the Week! I know it's a bit late again, but I still had Senior Project to work on in school, and it drained my energy lately... But good news! I finished it (besides the presentation), so I have more time and energy! Yay! Wai~! Hehe... Anyway, be looking forward to next time, ok~?! Haha, I'll be writing!

Battle on! And guten tag~ Ja ne~

~Favorite Starters~

Favorite Starters
Hallo, everyone! Welcome again to the Pokemon Hive, where beasts of big and small can live together in a peaceful sanctuary~ Today,I decided to talk about the Pokemon Starters~! Yay~! Hehe, anyway! I'll be talking about my favorite Starters by category, and I hope any of my readers that see this will tell me theirs! :3

Generation/RegionOk, first I will be talking about my favorite Starter per Generation/Region (Kanto, Johto, ect.). I hope this works out well, since I like a lot of them!

1st Generation - Kanto
For here, as much as I like them all, my favorite Starter is definitely Charmander~ I've just always enjoyed using Charmander, then Charizard, so it's been a favorite of mine for a long time. I have tried the others, but I always return to that little Fire lizard~

2nd Generation - JohtoFor this Generation, I've always liked using my Totodile~ But I will make this clear for now: Cyndaquil is a very close second for me! I would have gladly used Chikorita more often, but I like the attacking power of the other two, especially the little gator (for defensiveness, I usually like Umbreon more). I just always preferred Totodile, myself~

3rd Generation - HoennFor the 3rd Gen, I usually choose between Mudkip and Treecko, though I like both. Here, I can't really decide on a favorite, but I like them both. I'm not sure why, but I never got too into using Torchic, I guess~ ^^" Well, that's all for Hoenn then~

4th Generation - SinnohFor the Sinnoh Region, I mostly choose Piplup, but I like Turtwig just as much. I can't decide here either, but I do like them both~ |3 So for here, I simply have both the little penguin and the turtle in my ranks~ Works out pretty well, at least for me~

5th Generation - UnovaFor Unova, I've only played it once (my Black Version), and I personally like Tepig~ I don't mind it if my Pokemon are slow (heck, my favorite 5th Gen Pokemon is one of the slowest in existence! o3o"), and I love his attack power too~ Now that I think of it...I never got really into the Fire/Fighting Starters until now.. o3o" There are too many of them >> Anyway, I also like it because Emboar looks like Legend of Zelda's Ganon, with more fire |'3

By TypeBy type, it's fairly simple for me, and not too hard to choose, somewhat? Here we go~!

Grass-Type
For my Grass favorites, I usually like Treecko and Turtwig the most, but I can't choose which here ^^" I like Bulbasaur, so he's close too.. |'3 But it's mostly between the first 2~

Fire-TypeThis one, as sad as it is to push the others away, goes to Charmander. Overall, Charmander is my favorite Starter of all types (and Charuzard is my favorite Pokemon), and close ones are Cyndaquil, and I kinda like Pokebu too. But Cyndaquil is the closest you'll geta to a second for Charmander~

Water-Type

For the Water Starter... Hmmm.... I'd probably have to say Totodile~? I don't wanna be mean to the other Starters, but seriously, I like that little alligator dude~ |'3 I don't know how much more to say, but I will reiterate that I like all Starters! I just choose faves...~ |3

Anyway, I hope you guys like this issue of my info stuff! And I hope you continue to read~ Until next time, Ja ne! I'll meet you at the Hive~!
